Given we're about to go on our "summer" cruise I thought I'd check the heating was working :-)

Webasto Airtop 2000. Contro panel is just a rotary dial, with a switch that selects either heat or fan.

When I switch it on (with engine running to keep the volts up) the fan starts up, and I get cool air through the vents. Also get some smoke from the exhaust ... but never hot air. After a while the light on the panel flashes as follows: five short flashes followed by one long flash. The manual helpfully suggests that this is the error code for "no start"...

Any thoughts on the common faults. Whilst it was already installed when I bought the boat it's pretty new, I'd say two years old maybe.

It may well be that the temperature sensor is not working, and detects a flame fail, especially as you are seeing smoke.
My unit failed 3 times on the trot this year (6 years old), but fired up Ok on the fourth go.
If you need to speak to some helpful people (with reasonably priced spares) try JPC in Norfolk.

If it is a long time since the unit ran then it may just be stale fuel - this unit seems sensitive to such matters. Try it a good few times before you call in the experts.
Fair winds.

Hope this helps

From a Manual

During the flash code event, you will see five quick flashes followed by a slower sequence of flashes from
one flash up to ten flashes. The slower sequence of flashes is the actual malfunction code. The five quick
flashes are only an indication that a malfunction has been detected and that the code will be displayed.
Count only the slower sequence of flashes to obtain the current malfunction code.

1X Flash (F 01)
No start after 2 start
attempts No flame-up
Fuel system
Combustion air
Burner
Fuel level - No fuel - Fuel system not primed
Type of fuel being used
Plugged fuel filter - replace
Fuel line connections and clamps loose
Air intake or exhaust - restricted or plugged
Clean or replace burner unit

hope this helps. If you want the whole manual PM me.

Just one other pointer....If the unit has not been used for a long time...water drips for some reason drain back down the fuel line....ensure you get rid of this. happened to me...
