Weather

Good luck :encouragement:
Our policy is to always go out unless it's plain and obvious it's going to be wall to wall misery. Brit weather is 4 seasons in a day (I can say this as an immigrant) so that means every day has 50% good weather somewhere in the cruising grounds. Just got to find it and exploit it.

Perfectly put Bruce, and an opinion that I share. I've been lucky enough to get out at least once every weekend, and one weekday evening for the past three months.
Good weather is relaxing, poor weather is exciting!

I'm not sure the responses to this thread have taken into account what I meant...

I go out in all sorts of weather conditions, you only have to see my post about the Scillies last season. I have no issue taking on a windy trip if all factors work together....

My issue is boat ownership in the UK with limited time. Many of you will have loved the weather of late. I for one was unable to enjoy it, tied up with commitments out of my control, meaning no boat time. Tomorrow was the only sole day I had to go on the boat for weeks, and tomorrow is dire. I wouldn't waste a single day out in chop and driving rain.

So point was - yes we've had some great weather, and many of you lucky people have enjoyed it. I haven't. This is the first season I have been really limited on time on the boat and it show's just how much of a lottery it is weather wise.

I get your point on this. In the UK we do have limited warm sunny weather and this puts pressure on life to get on the water when it's nice.

However life gets in the way....weddings..family birthdays...work events...kids parties to go to.....all of which eat into the precious summer months.

For me i've not had a decent weekend afloat for months as the weather is foul when i get the time.

So for me the issue here is that if we are going to enjoy our boats in the UK weather we must be prepared to use it as often as we can and not just when we want to. Sadly planning a day out a month in advance with friends has a 50% of being too windy...thats just life i guess.

Same here.....I’m off for 10 days. Trying to get wind, tide, dog walkers, kids off work and the boss being happy all tied up is hard going.

Hoping to do Whitehaven and Kirkcudbright but it’s looking tricky. All being well will head to Whitehaven Sunday morning before it blows up. Might get stuck there Monday. Boss wants to be back Tuesday.

Might just go and polish it :):):)

Come down to Conwy. There is a space next to Roy on account of his antisocial behavior. The two of you can have a polishing comp. It's all he does of late. New boat, must polish. Go out?! No way, the boat might get wet. sigh

I guess a move to the Med won't help if you're constrained by time.

Despite being in full time employment (my colleagues might argue with that!) we'll be on board for 40 nights this year in largely continuous sunshine. And I'll still have enough leave for a week of winter sun and Christmas.

Are you a school teacher?
