We were going off for a weeks cruise in Sunny Cornwall this weekend but the forecast for next week looks c**p!
Considering putting it off for a further week, anyone have any thoughts on that week's weather being better or worse?

XC Weather and the Wiley Almanac are looking not too bad for the begining of next week, but of course that could change : ( I too am off cruising fort a couple of weeks starting next week so its bound to be rubbish weather!

I've been watching it for this week as well, we are supposed to be off to Portland for the Owners' Asociation meeting this weekend. The consensus seems to be, tomorrow looks good, then a wet and windy patch on Friday and Saturday is going to be followed by slightly less wind and much less rain in the south up 'til Tuesday, as far as I can see, when the nex biggie is due to come thundering in across the Atlantic on Thursday and Friday. At least the rain is still warm.
Summer is still on hold, or else Autumn has come early. I can't see that one more week will make a lot of difference, so either bite the bullet, it's never as bad as it appears to be (except last year), or put it off until later in August.

We were watching Country file on Sunday night when they showed a picture of the jet stream. Nice straight line until 3/4 of the way across the Atlantic then takes a sharp left turn dumping all this weather on us rather than pushing it up north to Scotland. Supposed to be crossing the channel first week in August, but not if it is anything like todays weather, F6 on Bramblemet.

Hi all,

My tip (for what it is worth, and of course the usual caveat is it could all change) is that I see no dramtic improvement to high pressure in the next couple of weeks. My forecast was always for a typical british summer and that is exactly what we have.

After this low passes through this weekend west might be okay for a few days, then another low moves in making east better. Probably looking at 3 day sailing windows in the west, then 3 days in the east.

Weekend forecast online in a few minutes.

Dramatic improvements??

Simon, did you mean to say "no dramatic improvement"? Just received your detailed forecast for the next two weeks and no indication there that there will be a dramtic increase in pressure.

Your freeby weekend forecasts are very useful but the tailored ones have been great for my planning over the past two years, even though they rarely tell me what I want to be hearing! Thanks again - great service
