Lets hope so soon.
Looking out the window it is perfectly still. Reading the met report force 7 to 8 tonight and in the morning. Force 9 and 10 not far away from here.
This may be the calm before the storm, again.

So if it is not the end of the world coming, then any theories on why we seem to be getting so many SW gales and storms one after another ?
Please - no global warming pundits. I have enough problems trying to understand how to fill up my recycle bin.

no problem filling it ,finding it blown half a mile up the road is the hard bit.
It seems as if every forecast for the last month has had at least an 8 in it.Possible 11 for tommorow.

The usual explanation is that it depends on the postion of the Jetstream. This is a quite a narrow band of VERY strong winds blowing from west to east at more than 20000 ft. It move up and down in latitude and it is pretty well at our lat. now. Go to Metcheck.com for some nice graphics of it or just do a google for jetstream. In Metcheck select UK&ireland, then go to bottom of page - Metcheck Tools- for info on jetstream .

Heard it said on the radio this morning (so it must be true) that the SW storms are likely to persist until the end of the month, then followed by blizzard conditions!
So much for winter sailing, might just take the sails off!
