Planning to launch from Dover area this Friday to sail accross to Calais on Saturday

BBC Weather SW 14 MPH and sunny
UK weather.com NE 15 MPH with showers

Who do I trust? Any "Local" info would be helpful.

Look at the synoptic charts and you'll see a gert big low heading up the channel from the SW approaches Thursday to Friday, the weather will be unsettled with plenty of wind and rain, probably starting SW ->S F5-7 on Friday, slowly easing and getting better for Saturday I would guess. I find ( Theyr to be the most accurate for winds, but they don't try and predict more than two days ahead though, so you'll have to be patient.

Last weekend the BBC had the weather for Sat and Sunday completely reversed for the Chichester area, that was on Friday afternoon!

Don't make a decision today. The speed of movement of the advancing milder air to the southwest is causing real problems. Wait until tomorrow and then assess the situation again. This weekend should finally see the end of winters grip....but it will be slow progress and there will be some active weather around.
