Weather training

I am utterly useless at weather forecasting, and more importantly, predicting the effect of the weather on the sea state. I have read the common books but I just can not get my head around it.

Next summer I am aiming to do a three month cruise – does anyone know of a decent course that may help me ?

Until then, every morning, lunch break & evening take a good look at the sky, make a few notes & see what happens next. Quite quickly you will start to recognise patterns. Re-read your books against that background and it will all start to make some sense.

One of the best educational sites is the Met Office one. Look for the education link at the top of the page and follow that onto forecasting.
