weather this weekend in the solent

Hi,

Looking at the weather in the solent - Met office f4-f5

however, my friend is convinced it will blow up to a f6.

Any other opinions?

Had a look around windguru, and xc weather too, seem's f4-f5

Looks to me like it will be the best sailing on the South coast for what ... 4years????

F4 most of the time I reckon. Next week looks a bit light for my week off.

Well, it didn't on Saturday in the bit I was in.

Beeeyoootiful F4/F5 tho, left full sail up and lee rail under 'cos it was such a lovely day. Wind instruments reckoned most of the time it was about 15-17 knots and just occasionally up to 22.

Two years by my reckoning.2006 was good as were the previous 4/5 years but 2007/8 were definitely a washout at least for me.2007 no wind & what there was variable.2008 plenty of wind but predominantly from the North West accompanied by copious amounts of rain.Which brings us up to date......bloody good weekend & far from to much wind,in fact I could have done with more coming up from Cowes to Portsmouth last night.Amazing how it twists & turns around every headland.....having been headed all the way from the Needles I got inside Portsmouth harbour & a fantastic sail to Fareham.Great! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Early forecast was for E6 but coming back to Poole on Saturday it was no more than E4 then close to Poole around mid-day the wind dropped to around 2.

Had a sustained 24-26 knts mid afternoon on Sunday, between Cowes and Beaulieu River. The easterly breeze and a strongish tide was causing fun and games up at Bucklers Hard.
