On long range synoptics looks like there could be a reasonable amount of wind out of west - not that I qualify as great or good but do have a vested interest in weather next weekend.
sat Morning 'bout 0900 off to Dartmouth to drop off a hooligan, pick up a different one, then heading South west down Portugal way..probably stopping in Bayona then around the corner to Villamoura meeting family flying out 16th July
...and a high off to the south of it. Depending upon where those two fetch up it might, or might not be, interesting.
I have a slightly cynical pet theory that sail-oriented forecasts hedge their bets at the begiining of the week for the following weekend but I doubt that applies to the US Navy charts I have been looking at this morning /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
You may already know, but there's a near-battle between neighbouring marinas in bayona. Both are located behind the fort, but the original with nice yacht club and views over marina and bay beyond is tucked right round (keep turning right) whereas the newbies are dead ahead as you round the fort - and are so keen to drum up business that thety send out an escort dinghy to drag you over to the new marina. Dunno bout the new marina, i came in too quickly for the dinghy escort! I *think* the oldun is where you want to be.
Looks like fun and games for Friday and Satruday with a bit of lull then another low coming along behind it. Suggest the Mc... approach, get as far west as you can, then fire up the big outboard and go like hell.
Solent/Santander 2 handed race starts on Saturday so it probably will be W/SW but it is looking good for Sunday/Monday. North Westerly for a couple of days, hopefully all the way down to Spain! see http://www.ecmwf.int/products/forecasts/...s!2005062700!!/
I wouldn't yet trust the forecasts, but would keep an eye on the developing situation. If we get strong headwinds down to Dartmouth we'll know who to blame!
Hope it works out well for you, but be prepared to delay...
Although I definitely don't qualify as either great or good I have been taking more than a passing interest in this myself this morning. Looks like upwind work in F3/4 going down the Channel with the wind increasing and veering to continue to head us as we go "round the corner" but a bit early yet to say how far and fast it'll veer or just how strong it'll get. IMO.
