New to the forum as a user but often visit for a look so I thought this might get an answer.

I spent the end of last week looking at various websites giving weather forecasts for a round trip to Cherbourg from Solent. The trip over on Friday was very calm, as per forecast. Coming back Saturday night was more interesting with what my met skills (not so hot) told me were the signs of a passing depression. Fives and Sixes, some chop, squalls, hail and thunder.

Anyway, I would like to find wind strength charts/synoptic charts for that period so that I can see how they describe what we experienced. I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the direction of site that shows this sort of data.

Thanks

Steve

Try our club site, sussexyachtclub.org.uk - weather and tides page has links to enable you to be a weather witch or wizard, like me.

I dont know if they have an archive link, but www.ndbc.noaa.gov/ gives detailed analysis of sea and wind conditions recorded at Data gathering buoys moored offshore locally to UK and links through to almost anywhere in the world. Interesting too on wild winter nights, to know what we are missing!
