Weather in the Aegean this winter

I've been living in Kuşadası for 20 odd years and I've never experienced a bad winter like the one which hopefully is just ending. The weather has been brutal since the beginning of December, mostly very cold with most days not getting above single digits and regular minus temperatures at night. We've also had a much wetter winter than usual (which is welcome) and many storms through December, January and February.
I usually swim 4 or 5 times a week but today was my first day since December and it was bloody cold @14c.
Strange old times.
