Hi all
I am planning a trip back from Sweden to Southampton end of April 2006 and am looking for a solution to enable me to get weather forecast updates via a blackberry or stand mobile phone provided we have reception on the boat.
If anyone can give some useful advice it would be appreciated.

Kind regards
Ian

While the screen is quite small, the browser on the Blackberry will allow you to go to any online site.

I use TheyR.net on my blackberry and it works well.

You need to ensure that you have one of the more recent Blackberry devices though as the screen res on the older ones would make it less than ideal.

Cheers

Wayne

I live in Denmark, and have with great success used the German site, www.wetteronline.de. This gives 2-hourly wind and wave forecasts for all the Baltic, and is very reliable in my experience. Whilst in Danish waters I use www.dmi.dk, which has an English version if you don't read Danish. In the English version choose Sea Areas, and you will get good forecasts. I assume you are going through the Kaiser Wilhelm Canal, better known to you as the Kiel Canal. This is a doddy, though you will have to be careful when entering Cuxhafen, if there is a strong flow in the Elbe. Any more help you need? From which part of Sweden are you starting?

Hi
Thanx for the info very helpful indeed, the DMI.DK is great.
We are leaving from Karlskrona east coast sweden and heading back to Southampton UK. We have been toying with the idea of going through the Kiel Canal but a few people have put us off saying that they waited hours on end to get into the lochs as commercial vessels have priority. What is your opinion of going this way as opposed to going around the top of Denmark and abck down? Also what is the mobile reception like around the southern Baltic / Denmark ect.

Kind regards
Maddog
