Hi All,
Just had a newsletter from maplin electrobics detailing a shortwave radio that is on offer at the moment. See http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...&T=12407263
I haven't tried this radio, but for anyone who wants to try to receive weather fax transmissions onland, before going on the boat (if may work onboard as well), this looks a good, cheap starter set.
Just plug a lead from the earphone socket into a computer or laptop, use soe of the free weather fax software that is available (i.e. JVFAX) and I think this should be a good starter for most.
As I say, I haven't tried it, but I often get asked how to get started with weather fax and this may be one to give a go.
