... a Seadog. It all started when I rang the number on a "For Sale" sign hanging off a boat on the quay!

Now all we have to do is sell the old one.....

Does this mean I have to change my name? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congratulations Mark!

Snappys and Seadogs are both very fine classes, and built when nobody skimped on scantlings
Just goes to show (again) that while we might all have 'ideal' or 'dream' boats, in reality that ideal boat is the one that happens along at the right time, in the right circumstances.

A former boss of mine used to have a Seadog 18 years ago - she was 'Tresco Maid'. I went out sailing on her a few times, very comfortable, never mind that she was not a witch to windward.
And I have seen a few turn up here in Barbados after having routine transatlantic passages in comfort and style - and reasonable speed too.

Nice buy, but I bet you'll miss the Snappy.

Looking at the photo, you shouldn't have too much trouble selling.

Congratulations

Once looked round a Seadog - nice boat.

Since we would seem to have a "savage" Seadog on the forum perhaps best you keep the same alias.

Better the snail the know...........

And does it come with that mooring? It looks dangerously close to the Folly to me.

It is, only a stones throw from you, but no - she will be moving a bit south of there, handier for the Bargeman's. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif You should recognise the location of the other picture.

I've often thought that Newport is an under-rated place. I'm sure its going to get developed and totally spoilt, (and much of it already has of course), but the warehouses, Little London, Odessa and The Quay Arts buildings are a lovely reminder of how important this little bit of the 'capital' once was. If only the steam trains were still running. I'll look out for you later in the year - I'm still sorting out the new engine in a boatyard in Bembridge, so it will be a few weeks yet. Nice looking boat - a bit roomier than mine I'd say!

Nice one Lescargot. Hope you enjoy her.

I always pop into Newport when I visit England and, though I maybe wrong, I am sure I remember seeing that blue hulled Snapdragon almost opposite the visitors moorings.

And just a pity you didn't post that second pic as a "Where Am I". I would've won and told you you're only 100 metres from the Depot of The New Forest Ice Cream Company!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

And that is what attracts me to the place. (SWMBO loves it for the shops.) The Harbour has its own, old fashioned charm. I like the characters that make up the HM and his team - always give us a welcome even after 9 months of absence in the long winter season. I hope it doesn't get overdeveloped 'cause in my opinion, it would ruin all that Newport Harbour is.

Congratulations. I bought a Seadog two years ago and am delighted with her. Hope you get on as well with yours.
