Thankfully the older HR's have normally been well maintained, all the solid stuff survives the bumps and scratches pretty well.

Off Finisterre I was very glad to be in an over engineered heavy when Neptune decided to chuck a few bathfulls of clear seawater at us and the waves got a little taller than the mast.

Had I been in the SO 37 I'd have been terrified and I'm sure summat would have broke!

Heavy boat motion is a lot more pleasant, not sure a new floor and a couple of hand holds would give us this?

A lost cause then.... Ah but you didn't mention motion in your post. I probably agree, particularly in the very rough stuff. But I too have been in a gale off Finnestere and although it did bounce about on the water quite a bit, I never felt it was going to break.

Now come on, you know I'm doing the ARC on a Bav40 and I don't want to read this doom and gloom about how it's all going to fall apart - just as I've managed to convince me missus that it'll all be OK. Better make sure your stern cleats are good and strong for a 2,800 tow then!

I'm sure your Bav will be fine, along with the others - I think the tow may be too slow for you - ha

Just had word that the ssb insulators are leaking watts so a whip aerial is to be fitted this aft on Asterie..

The Bav will be just fine .... designed for Atlantic gales .... but take plenty of glue and nails just in case.
