Does happen to be one of the strongest types of varnish .... so I would have thought you are using a good quality varnish with long lasting potential.

(Not my cup of tea though ... too slippery - varnish ....)

Agreed. But I intend to place a carpet over the top, with the holding-down screws also holding the studs on which the carpet will fit.

At least, that is the plan!

Now what sort of underlay would be best to use??
