High winds shouldn't trouble a ferry, but sea levels in the Baltic can change by up to a metre or even more when the wind shoves the water around, so maybe this was what caught it out.

When my boat was on the Blackwater, I didn't consider it a proper sail unless I had gone aground at some point - usually when returning to the mooring.
