WE GOT THE OLYMPICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: [no thanks]!

I'm buying a house in Weymouth this weekend!!!!!!!!

Its good we beat the French, better still we beat the Amercians!

I'm with you baby.
I live less than 3 miles from proposed olympic village and I am not looking forward to the upheaval thats bound to follow but the legacy of it all will be the bolox

No your not, I think its great, if it was'nt going to be good for the economy etc, then no one would bother putting the effort into trying to get it for their country.

The only downside that I see, as T B Liar was involved in a last min appearance, he'll be there talking about 'his' success.

Very proud and looking forward to it.

I think its fantastic news it will give the whole country a boost.

It may be seven years away but I'm looking forward to it already.

Sailing will benefit massively as one of our more suceesful sports.

Look out for a diver called Jordan Rippon, my stepson. Rated in the top 10 in the country for his age and only been diving for just over a year.
Coached by our Olympic coach who trained Pete Waterfield to silver at last year's Olympics.
He'll be 19 in 2012 so just about right.

I'm upping his training from next week !

I'm all for it provided that French Cricket and tiddleywinks get their long-overdue olympic status. Seriously, great news. Let's show everyone that we can do something really well, even brilliantly. and aren't just a bunch of cynical whingers.

Maybe you should have a chat with the Greeks about how good it was for their economy, and how they all benefitted from the Athens Olympics. They are still talking about how much extra revenue it bought into Crete and how much more they have been paying in taxes up to and since!

Yes, I am sure it will be 'excellent' for the economy. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I may be alone here but I feel proud and very excited that the games are coming to London.

It happens in every project (building, I.T. whatever). Projects have phases; when a project is seen to successful everyone wants to be associated with it. When this happens then the last phase is known as "Honour and praise for the non-participants" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Very proud and looking forward to it.

I love watching diving but there never seems to be enough on the TV.

I'll look out for him - (I have a few Irish University medals for that too..!)

Diving

You're right there is very little coverage.

Jordan is fortunate that he's probably got the best coach in the country at his local club and as she runs the academy she identified him very early when he won the City championships at his first attempt.

Also Pete Waterfiled is a really nice guy and doesn't play the superstar at all and helps the younger kids a lot.

Maybe diving will get more coverage / funding now.

Re: Diving

My only concern is our apparent inability to deliver major public works anything like on time and on budget - Millennium Dome/bridge, Wembley stadium, channel tunnel link etc etc..
