After selling our Targa a bit quicker than we expected back in February, we spent the next boatless month getting grumpier and grumpier . The first time without a boat in 30 years.
As divorce loomed, i suggested a RIB as an interim measure... talk about getting your hand bitten off!

Luckily some good friends were selling theirs so we quickly did the deal and moved to a Zodiac 5.5 with a Yam 115.
Great fun but liked a drink. We still missed the 'big boat' feel and went looking for small flybridges.

To cut a long story short (full details later) we found one that we both agreed on and after a hectic week sorted out the purchase.
Any ideas? (there are 2 forumites that know)

it's another quite rare one, we seem to have form for this, there weren't too many Targa 31s built.

Congratulations! Havent a foggiest at guessing but I think we can rule out Fairline and lean towards Princess with flybridges as a change up from a 31....

That didn't take long. Was pretty easy tho.
Yes Princess 38
Apparently only around 100 made as it was superceded by the 40 with twin heads.
The 38 suited us better as 95% of the time it's just the two of us onboard and the second heads is wasted space.
Preferred it (our own subjective view) to the Phantom 38 as the Fairline has lower headroom to the second cabin and also 2 heads, although it's probably better for families.
Looked at an immaculate one in Wales which would have been perfect but the owner decided not to sell. One in Scotland. Booked (non-refundable) flights to see one in Ireland, then the owner realised that it had the smaller engines - Grrrr!
Lastly one in Holland and thereby hangs a tale of the different way of buying boats in Holland. I'll write it up as a lesson in the differences.
Transport now arranged for next week, thanks to Deleted User for his recommendation. if you think i'm bringing it across the North Sea and halfway around the UK in December you've gotta be kidding!

We are currently looking at a boat in Holland so would be very interested to hear how it works over there.

Being lifted today for the stripdown for transport, gulp.
Radar scanner, aerials and ancilliaries taken off the radar arch. Props removed..... all to clear the bridges.
Apparently Dutch bridges have a minimum clearance of 4m rather than 5m in the UK?
All the responsibility of the transport company to plan routing.
Still not sure whether they are going Hook of Holland/The Hague > Harwich or driving down to Calais > Dover.

Very nice (don't tell anyone but it was on our shortlist when we bought our current boat).

The Journey has started. Wonderful things - Webcams.
Saw it being moved round to the lifting berth earlier this morning and now it's in the yard.
Time for removal of props and radar extras before loading on the lorry on Monday morning.
so far so good!
 
Your excitement is palpable. Which is a great thing :encouragement:

I remember after buying mine (1st cruiser) I just went numb, wondered if I had lost my sanity, was late to it's delivery and saw it sat at the bottom of the lift in the water and got nervous. Climbed aboard and was a bit scared to start her up, bailed, and got the marina to put her in her temp berth before I could occupy my permanent mooring. Hopefully my next boat will fill me with your excitement rather than that dread.

The journey starts.

Due to cross Rotterdam - Purfleet tonight and make their way round the M25 and along the M4 to West Wales tomorrow.

:encouragement: Wishing her safe travels. The North Wales faction should have a meet with the West Wales faction at some point. Maybe a halfway point in Cardigan Bay. Do the Dovey Fest in August or something.
 
All arrived safely. Followed the convoy for the last 30 miles.
Superb driver from van de Wetering.
Just made it in time before the light went. Not permitted to travel in the dark.
Crane off at 8 tomorrow morning.
