Well its the last day at work for a couple of weeks
Off up the Thames on the barge (Parglena) arriving Teddington Tuesday PM and proceeding upstream from there for a week.
No plans just a lazy time.

Gavi - did they wave? :D

More than that - we had a quick chat as they came by :)

I was on a work call at the bottom of the garden. Finished the call quickly ("have to catch a train") so I could say hello.

Great sight......you were making fine headway as you passed me heading upstream just before Shillingford bridge. Neglected to sat that was at 08:35 hrs this morning.

Noted passing Ashmount on the Plane and towing two mono skiers.

That was the standard 1300rpm 5mph setting, it will go faster but drinks fuel not to mention the speed limit.

Saw you at Ashmount yesterday as we passed, lovely tug on the moorings there

Didnt see, Byron can answer, Needed some work on the roof from memory.

There was also an ex BW Severn tug down at Pangbourne drove Severn Progress once, what a beast I think it originally had two 6cyl Gardners when I drove it it had 6Cyl turbo lister and was still impressive........

Cannot remember it's name. To me it's just Steve's tug. It's owned by a very old pal call Steve Bill who does river work. He keeps it at Pangbourne, all those moorings there belong to his in-laws. He had brought it up to blast out the depths for me above the boat house.

I wondered if it was Steve's, he has a small one called Phoebe and a bigger older one called Oxford which he has been doing up for the last two or three years, I also noted he had another bigger one last time I went up.

He's a great chap, fixed my bow roller for me after someone crunched it a couple of years ago. I once went from Rochester to Queenborough on his London tug, can't remember the name of that one, but Dilly served up great hot toddies on that trip.

You got it Ian., it was the Oxford that was here. The big one is waiting for an Engine that he is buying from Pete Duggan (Marine & General Navigation).

It doesn't surprise me that he helped you. Steve will put himself out for anyone any time. He is one of nature's gentlemen.

He only fairly recently bought the big one from Watford of all places on the canal.

He has been a godsend helping ne get my engines up to full revs.

.....and always grateful for the help he gave my parents when they needed it most!!!

(the old tug was "Dido")
