I recently got a new Raytheon GPS. Its a spledid beast but putting waypoints in is a right s*d. It took me an hour to put in about 18, as you have to select each letter with the up/down key and move on with the left/right key.

Does anyone know of a programme that will let me enter the waypoints on my computer. I guess I will also need a lead to connect the GPS to one of the COM ports.

Help before I go mad

Raytheon generally use Seatalk to communicate between instruments in their range. This is a proprietry protocol and needs a converter to talk to to the industry standard NMEA interface. It's likely that the utilitiies mentioned in the thread will use NMEA.

This answer is not definitive but is worth checking.

Yes, I have the same problem with our Garmin.

How I miss the old B&G Decca - just nip to the chart table to key in a few numbers.

Simple!!!

Cheers
