Wax Removal

I plan to prep the cove line for re-painting. What are the recommended ways and techniques of removing existing wax? I have done some research and come up with among other things kitchen degreasers, acetone and dishwasher detergent. Any advice or alternative suggestions would be very welcome.

Be very careful with Acetone. I'd use automotive panel wipe, it's designed for de-waxing during car bodywork repairs/resprays.

Be careful with any solvents, especially acetone, as they tend to deposit waxes back onto the surface you are cleaning as they evaporate. Best way is detergent and water followed by plenty of fresh water flush. If there is any wax left the water will form beads on the surface. If wax removed it will form a thin film over the surface
