I have a pair of these on my tender and they are great- the axles are stainless and good but the small tension springs (about 3cm of spring at rest and a 1.5mm hook at each end has corroded and broken on one of them.
Does anyone have a source for an OEM replacement or suggestions as to where I might get a workshop to fabricate one for me?

It's not vital but I would prefer to have it working so that the wheel wasn't tempted to drop out of position

I'm interested in any results as I have the same issue. Great wheels, crap springs.

I've been springless for a couple of years, but it's never been a problem - the wheels stay in their up or down slots, I just have to be a bit careful that they're properly engaged.

The nice people at Pacer Marine took a lot of trouble to source a replacement spring but their suppliers had to order from China and then my spring went missing in the UK mail system and my replacement arrived today some 7 weeks after ordering. However Pacer Marine has a very small stock of these now available immediately, so quick action is needed if you want one. Cost was £4.50 each plus £2.80 UK postage.

I've since sold my inflatable so I cannot check that the new spring is precisely the same except that I have the broken old one and it all looks very similar (maybe my resin axle - not s/s as originally stated- was 10mm dia. and the ID of the axle hook on the spring is 9mm but it will probably be OK).

Below is the image and so you can check if this is compatible with your needs here are some nominal dimensions

wire diameter 1.5mm
distance between inner bearing surface of small hook to body of spring- 13mm
-ditto- large(axle)hook - ditto- 15mm
ID of axle hook 9mm
Overall length of spring, between outer surface of each hook - 50mm
