Waterskiing at my mate's summer cottage (video)

Hi All,

Last week we went to my mate’s summer cottage to enjoy the last bits of summer. We had planned to shoot a bit of waterskiing vid and the conditions couldn’t have been better. Temp was about 24 degrees, which despite the fantastically beautiful summer, is still considered tropical heat by local standards. Water was 20+ degrees.

Despite faffing around with all the gear we managed to have good times blasting around the lake with the boat. A nice evening and a great way to enjoy summer.

The spoken bits are in Finnish but you can turn on EN subtitles from the ‘CC’ icon which should appear on the lower right corner of the vid.

 
Awesome videography, I was loving the slow-mo work then the drone kicked in, didn't expect that also....incredible!! Thanks for posting that. :encouragement::cool:

Are you working in Premiere or FCP? - I can't remember if you have previously said. I'm about to buy one of them and can't decide which because I get so many conflicting recommendations!

Reminds me of a small lake N of Lake Como, where we used to ski many years ago (now restricted to powerboats up to 10cv!).
I would be tempted to beg for an invitation, if it weren't that I'm not sure I would survive the water temperature... :o
Oh, well. I'm sure I could stand the sauna and sausages, anyway... :cool:
 
Thank you all for the kind comments! We were very lucky with the clouds to get the nice light (which I made a mess of with the drone camera settings, btw).

I'm using FCPX but can't recommend one over the other as I've never used Premiere. It seems though that most (as in almost all) serious Youtubers I follow, are using Premiere and that must be for a reason. Premiere appears to support Macbook Pro's touch bar, so nothing missed there either.

I use Adobe's Lightroom for photos and have gotten used to it's controls for colors, contrast, etc. (something I'm still struggling with on the FCPX) so I'd like to try out Premiere at some point to see how it works.

All said, I'm sure FCPX has everything I need and I've probably only touched 20% of the functionalities. It is also very widely used and there are tons of plug-ins and LUT's available, so I'd say you can't go wrong whichever you choose.

You know you are always more than welcome! If you get a change to come over at the right time of the year, I'm sure my friend would be more that happy to have us over for a bit of skiing, sauna and sausages :). We have plenty of wetsuits too...

I can certainly attest to your claim regarding sauna. From chopping the wood to enjoying the 'löyly' (or heat) and swimming in the freezing lake back in 2014. :encouragement:

Thanks K, very kind of you. Not sure if I'll ever have the opportunity to take you up on this, but I surely would like to.
Btw, my own claim ref. sauna is nothing, when compared to the fact that also S enjoyed the very same experience you are referring to.
In fact, she normally needs at least 26+ deg to not put a wetsuit on before going for a swim... Talk about being spoiled! :cool:

She was the first one to go into the lake as well!
