Waterproofs for warm-weather sailing?

Can anybody recommend a range of sailing waterproofs that are designed for warm weather sailing?

Hi Ric,Check out the Atmosphere jacket from Henri-Lloyd. I bought one of these for sailing in the BVI and have used it out in Turkey last week. i have been very
happy with it. I dont have any trousers to go with it as I have found if you use shorts and Crocs you soon dry out when the sun comes out again.

A trick I learned from one of the younger members of my mountaineering club: if it's wet but warm wear waterproofs with very little underneath. Surprisingly effective.

Consider something warmer than you think you want. I was looking for warm-climate waterproofs a few years back. Bought a musto evolution jacket just because it was a last-year's-model bargain at a boat show but thought it's be too warm because of the light fleece lining (I was looking for something unlined). Actually it's perfect. Works for a wide range of temperatures including cooler evenings. If it's *that* hot you're just in swimming gear anyway.

Like philwebb I only go with the jacket: don't care about the trunks/bare feet/tevas getting wet, mainly concerned about keeping the stinging rain off my more exposed torso.

My jacket also works in the UK in conjunction with other layers. Since buying my own boat the closest I've sailed to the tropics is France :-(

If rain in warm weather is tropical rainy season, despite having a few goretex jackets/trousers of varying weight, from "ocean" to very lightweight stuff, I have found myself always using a pvc jacket with a pvc souwester hat.
As it gets all wet, just flapping it a couple of times it's almost dry and immediately wearable, whereas all breathables seem to remain soaked and colder for longer.

The cheapest sorce for good water proofs around here is a shop specialising in workers wear and safety gear. i reckon it might be the same in UK. I find when it is warm I am grateful to get wet but it dries quickly. But then my warm weather sailing might be warmer than yours olewill

I brought my Helly Hansen waterproofs home from Greece when they were just too hot. I replaced them with a light jacket from Aldi, never needed overtrousers.

Mother did get a suprise one day when I arrived home naked under the waterproof kit!

More seriously, RN number 8's dry very quickly.
