Well now that its official - we're all obese. I'm only a little plump, but with emphasis on the little! I am around 5 ft 7 in. If I go into a clothes shop I expect to find each chest/waist size available in short/medium/long fittings.

A set of "Ocean "waterproofs costs around £700, yet the arms are sufficient to tie around my back as a straight jacket and I trip the other crew on the legs trailing behind me.

Value for money? I think not!

Anyone found waterproofs that fit?

Yes, but my point is that off the peg clothing is elsewhere offered in several fittings. I don't think I'm giong to pay even more for a bespoke item! Surely these grossly overpriced waterproofs don't fit 90% of the sailing population?

Does anyone make a short fitting waterproof?

I'm in exactly the same position: same height, not THAT tubby. Bought new Mustos this year, these and Gill were best of a bad bunch for fit, and even these too long. The main problem is the trouser legs, as if the velcro lets go where it's holding the bunched up leg and round your boot ankle, you end up with the trouser ends getting under your sole - very slippy.

The idea of slipping on a wet deck because your waterproof troos are dangling round your feet is not the way to go. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I will happily try and match people's dimensions to the gear I have access to, then report back with what will hopefully be hapy findings. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

i take the SFB size at 5'8" and hefty, i recently purchased the gill key west they seem to fit ok and plenty of room around the limbs to move around in. have only used on windamere as yet but expect to put to sea tests this weekend "wind gods permiting"
SFB size being s***t, f**, b***ard. fitting as known by my associates

I think that you'll find that it is 90% of the population that they DO fit. I sympathise (I'm taller than the average) but, in reality, all clothing manufacturers work to a standard distribtion of sizes.

I lost a couple of stone and it made getting into my oilies a bloody sight easier, have you considered a diet /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ?
