On reflexion, I think I'll stick with my old bikini made out of a well used shammy leather, which although not entirely waterproof does feel nice when it gets hot and damp - and itdoesn't chaff like canvas, merely rubs a little.

Had a friend in my college sub-aqua club whos mother had knitted him a pair of swimming trunks. Real class but not reccomended!
