waterproofing a vhf loudspeaker

I want to improve the waterproofness of a Raymarine vhf 230 external loudspeaker.My idea is to pour sealant at he rear between the outer frame and the inner part because I dont trust the rubber gasket delivered with the speaker .Which sealant will you use.Thanks

I'd use butyl tape.. it would also have the advantage of being easier to get it out/off should you need to

Surely the diaphragm is open at the front anyway? If water is going to get to it, it will be here.

I intend to put it at the rear of a small locker in the cockpit and protect it behind a perpex door

I've had two of the Navico ones and they have both failed after only a year or so in the cockpit. It was corrosion and sticking of the voice coil in both cases.
