It may be tough, but it is splashproof rather than waterproof, so an ordinary phone in one of those sealed plastic waterproof cases might be better on a yacht.

An ordinary ziploc bag works quite well. Enough air in it to be bouyant, enough space to let you hold the earpiece against your ear where it needs to be, free access to the keyboard, etc...
Doesn't need to be waterproof to x00M 'cos it will never get there 'cos it's floating
Dirt cheap and easily replaceable!
They tested this on the Gadget Show a few weeks back against a Samsung one (that was way cheaper). The Samsung stayed functional for longer but they both survived a surprising array of bad experiences. In the end the JCB died first.
This phone is really C**P, if you are talking about the new ones that are on the market. the original one make by Sonim was a very good phone but this new one is cheap Chinese rubbish, I purchased one in December and had 3 in 3 months with me only having the phone for a total of 21 day so it lasted an average of 7 days per phone. I have not purchased a ITTM Outlimits, which is dual sim so when out in remote places i have twice as much chance of getting a signal.
