Went for a sail this afternoon. The wind was a bit fitful so initially I didn't make much progress. The kicking strap (it tensions using a sort of drum-winch thingy) wasn't tight enough and I needed to put some extra turns of line on the drum. Whilst I had my head down and not paying attention the dinghy (Solo) broached and I couldn't lean over enough to recover it so it capsized. Then continued to turn turtle.
I was using my Lumix compact to film the sailing but, annoyingly, when filming at HD resolution it only films for 9 minutes and shuts off so it (thankfully) missed the inversion.
However once back in the boat I fired it up again and it carried on as before. There was a little bit of condensation inside the lens cover, but they do warn about that in the instructions.
If you remember my capsize drill practice I had trouble getting back into the boat. This time with a loop in the recovery rope I was able to step up into the boat pretty easily, over the transom.
On the plus side the wind got a bit less blustery and I recorded 12 knots maximum on my eTrex GPS. Again after the camera had shut down at it's 9 minute maximum so there is no film of that either. May have to film at SD resolution.
