This morning I carried out the first run on my Sea Panther after the top end rebuild, and success! Though with one concerning issue.
After much reluctance in the cold weather, and with no heating element, I eventually got the engine to fire up with a hot air gun on the intake. After the usual initial smoke the exhaust was fairly clean. Up to this point cooling was just on the internal circuit. I then started the raw water supply, and at this point I started to get a problem with a leak at the bottom corner of the chaincase just below the injection pump. This was an oil/water emulsion with some blowing too.
I've added a couple of photos here, and a link to a video. Any comments or advice are most welcome! I'll be removing the chaincase shortly to take a better look at the problem. I should add that after the run the dipstick showed clear uncontaminated oil.
