Sorry Jim but I disagree, the purifier is like spraying air freshener to remove a lingering smell, it does not cure the smell. I don't doubt the purifier removes some trace elements from the water, but I fear in this case, it will only mask a problem which should be fixed first.
Adding to that, a purifier in the system will mask future tank problems, a bacteria growth might go undetected for months.. years. My tanks are clean, they have not always been so and occasionally take on a taste, now I clean immediately. We drink fresh water from the tanks, which tastes as good as home, but it does take regular vigilance to maintain good clean water on board.
