Water tank split. Again

Our plastimo flexible water tank spilt again at the weekend, giving us water in the bilges and quite an uneasy feeling on a longish passage. This one (110l, triangular) lasted about 15 months. The previous one about the same.

So I won't be buying another.

Any recommendations for rigid tanks and or tank suppliers? I reckon 60-70l would be fine, we only filled the 110l one infrequently.

Cheers.

There is an outfit that spun off from the hovercraft skirt people who make flexible tanks and supplied the Sadler group. Like all flexibles they dont last forever but my last one did 10 years. Try Mike Lucas for the manufacturers name.

I've had four Plastimo tanks in about six years. They are fine when you buy them as they are soft and pliable, but soon become hard and brittle and split. I'd had quotes from Duratank (HCL)before but baulked at the cost, almost double, but faced this winter with replacing yet another Plastimo tank, I bit the bullet and orderd a double skinned tank from them. I sent them my old tank as a template and specified the outlet fittings. It arrived in less than a week, and is very substantial. Polyurethane inner, with a polyurethane and nylon outer. I'll report on it's durability, but fingers crossed. In reference to the post re a split diesel tank, they told me that polyurethane though water impermeable, does allow odours in and out, so cannot be used for diesel as it will leak fumes.
