Hi all,

I've recently purchased a Sadler 29, I'm replacing the water tank and would appreciate advice on what others have done in terms of size, hard, soft and where best to keep. I've been looking at the plastimo ones but none look like a good fit. Any guidance appreciated.

Best wishes

Fiona

Don't think Tek-Tanks have done a Sadler 29 water tank. This is what they have done.

They'll be able to do a custom tank for you, if you are able to give accurate measurements or create a full scale mockup of the tank. I did the latter for my new water tank which they're currently making. I've only heard good things about Tek-Tanks, and I've been impressed with their service on my order so far.

I think the original was a heavy duty flexible tank made by Aircushion Equipment ltd in Southampton but they don't seem to be around now. Plastimo is the obvious alternative but the original was custom made so unlikely to find a direct alternative.

I had my 29 from ‘87 and, as you say, it had a flexible tank that I seem to remember was 18 gallons. It wasn’t a remarkable shape, being broadly cylindrical, and I think, from memory, that anything similar would work perfectly well.

The Plastimo ones are either 50 or 100litres (or larger) 75cm wide and 75 or 110 long. Suspect the latter will fit the space. but probably not fill to full capacity. Not as robust as the original but low cost and you can get replacement liners.

Hi i have a 100 litre plastimo in the Starboard forward cabin. It works well enough tbh, but when its full it pushes the cushion up and doesn't empty fully. Its not perfect but good enough for the time being as a cheap sub 75 quid fix. There's two Facebook groups for sadlers lots of information on there. Well worth a look 👀 I would suggest.

Put a new flexi tank in , starboard side forepeak about 18 yrs ago . Never been a bother , empty end of season , tank sani stuff each Spring , run plenty through , new inline filter cartridge also. I'll have a look for details/paperwork if you wish?
