I've fittted a water tank guage that measures the head pressure In the tank. In the instructions it stated that the breather must not be free flowing. Mine seems to have a problem as the guage seems to be erratic and when I remove the tank deck filler cap it sucks in air as its opened. Is there an easy solution? Can I fit an NRV to a T piece near the tank to release any pressure or will this leak? Any other ideas as the existing breatherius really hard to access from about 6" from the tank.

I dont understand.
Id have thought for this type of gauge to work correctly the tank must be freely vented but clearly a vacuum is being created in the tank if air is sucked in when the cap is removed.

what guage ?

What type of tank ......... not trying to use a gauge for a normally vented rigid tank with an unvented flexible pillow tank ?????

I, too, think you must have a kink or blockage. I fitted a vent pipe to the cockpit coaming in 15mm tubing, and have not encountered any problem.

(I have no experience of pressure head sensors. I used this type of level indicator: http://www.kemo-electronic.de/en/Ho...hp-/M167N-Level-Indicator-for-Water-Tanks.php. For the sensor element, I used a computer ribbon cable with cuts through the insulation of 10 individual strands at appropriate levels. The ribbon, cable-tied to a sealed length of plastic-coated curtain wire, is epoxied through the tank inspection cover. The indicator is inexpensive and there are no moving parts to fail. Not a help to you, but perhaps of interest to others.)

Sorry fat fingers on small keys. Meant to say must be free flowing i.e. no water trap from a sagging pipe.

...then your vent is blocked.

Find out where it is blocked and either replace the hose or water/air blast is clear - disconnect it from the tank first so you don't get a clod of **** in the tank from the vent pipe.
