Water tank (access) for Westerly Pageant

Hi,

Putting this out there but would anyone know how you can gain access into the water tank on a Westerly Pageant please.

There's lockers in the V Berth but the tank seems to be located in between then with no access from the top nor sides.

We're not sure if it's fibreglass or stainless and need to drain it and then get into to clean it out given its full of sea water owing to the recent sinking of said boat ?

I can pump.out using a small water pump but will need to get into it to clear mud!

Not an answer to your question, so apologies. Just another opinion on a way forward.

Once you have flushed out the seawater several times and sterilised the contents, you will be left with mud in fresh water.

Could you fit an additional coarse strainer on the pump suction line and run the pump until the strainer blocks? All the while agitating the tank contents. Stop every time the strainer blocks, clean it and start again. Perhaps a compressed air line pushed down the filling line would do the agitation job?

After a few strainer cleans you may find that in the absence of agitation, the mud stays put.

That way, no need to take the tank out.

Thanks, and the tank is integrated, not stand alone by the looks so not capable of being removed, a real mare.

My recollection wasWesterly built tanks in the 1970s with no intention of access - probably might be helpful to ask on Westerly owners forum but my suspicion is a saw of some type maybe required to cut a hole in top and then clean and insert a replacement from Tectanks - I believe they might also give you some useful advice as they might have supplied other westerly owners in past.

As per ashtead, cut a hole in the top but clean and seal back up with an inspection hatch.

Ask on WOA forum, but on my P no access. Put a hose down the filler and disconnect the tap hose, stick it out of the sink drain. When water is clear use Puriclean and fill to brim, then rinse again after several hours.

sounds like they the same as on the kingfisher 30, they are under te deck and only way to get the original stainless tanks out is to cut a hole in the deck or cut up the tanks..
