Some brick and patio cleaners contain hydrochloric acid... some do not. Check the labels or the Safety data sheets.
B&Q as it so happens are very good at publishing all the data sheets for the products they sell.

I Had exactly same problem this summer with my 2040: Salt water in cooling liquid. Needed some time, testing and finally temp alarm to understand that the problem came from horrible exhaust elbow...rusty and blocked with a loose metal part...
Has anyone tested the alternative of INOX exhaust elbow? Some say they might cause oxydation on motor block as no zinc electrode is on engine..

Well, the final answer was to unmount exhaust elbow an august weekend in Spain, clean it as good as possible (mechanical & chemical) , put it back and sail back to home-port in France. Next step, in 2 weeks, will be to replace the elbow with a new (iron cast or inox ???) and hope...
On the 2040 or 20XX the most frequent problems are : sea-water pump (leaking) and cooling circuit, specially the elbow. My engine now has been running 2000 hours. I will also replace the sea-water pump.
