Water Skiing on the River Hamble!

[ QUOTE ]
5.1 The Patrol has had to attend to a number of incidents involving youths/children jumping and swimming in the Harbour. On these occasions those found in the water or jumping from the bridges/pontoon/jetties were requested to cease the activity as it was dangerous to themselves and users of the Harbour

[/ QUOTE ] Bloody Hell! I'd have been nicked 50 times over if they'd done that when I were a lad.....

I also used to go water-skiing above the M27 Bridge, with a mate who had an old Dory. I don't suppose that's allowed now, either.

Oh Gawd, I'm turning into a reactionary, nostalgic old fart. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

2 things pop out here.

1. They should station an engine mechanic bloke at Warsash jetty - he would make a fortune.

2. They should have a Parking Warden at Warsash jetty - he too would make a fortune.

[/ QUOTE ]No, no, you're not always reactionary and nostalgic! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

For boats with engine failure or other emergency, towage by a Harbour Authority launch from the River entrance to the nearest safe berth (usually Warsash) is free of charge. Genuine emergencies also get 24 hours berthing free of charge (running out of fuel or beer is not counted as a genuine emergency!). Water-skiing is not allowed anywhere in the river (not even upstream of the M27 bridge).

I liked the one afterwards :

3.13 30 May: A passenger on the Hamble-Warsash Ferry had jumped from the boat in an attempt to rescue his dog which had jumped over the side. The skipper of the ferry recovered the man and his dog who then went on their way once ashore.
