Hi - I have noticed my Shurflo 2095 series water pump has a slight weep - The question is do I get a diaphragm kit and fix the leak - The kit Is around £20 and a new version of the Shurflo pump is about £60 or is there a quieter pump out there that some one could suggest ?
Here is a pic of my current pump with the specifications on

A kit is fine if it is the gasket.
You really need to remove and dismantle pump to find out exactly what the problem is.
Getting at..... and out, can be fun knowing where most builders hide these things.
Especially disconnecting and reconnecting the water inlet and outlet connections without further leaks.
It could be actual corrosion on the pump body if an ancient device and removing rusty bolts, screws and electrical connections to dismantle will be interesting .
This means two lots of work and the pump will be out of commission in the mean time, then have to source the correct kit for your particular, possibly well obsolete pump.
This leaves us with an old pump with some new bits or a knackered pump with a brand new packet of useless bits on the boat until the second coming ie. for ever. :)
Buy a new one.
One caveat.
New pumps tend to be sold with somewhat optimistic claims regards capacity especially the "sounds similar" budget versions.
Buy something a little bigger than the old one.
Ask me how I know any of this. :)

I have two Sureflo pumps on the watermaker. Definitely worth changing the diaphragm if noisy. Many parts available on eBay as Shurflo commonly used for window cleaning systems
At one point I sent the pump to a company in Streatham (London) that refurbs electric motors. Came back like new.

Sorry for the late reply - Many thanks for your replies @oldgit I am tempted to get a new pump and have the old one as a spare to remove the build up of rain water in the bilge that the bilge pumps cant get rid of due to low volume.
as for access to the pump it is very easy to get at in the engine bay so really just a plug and play
When the boat gets lifted in January thats when I will remove the pump and have a good look at it and go from there
Thanks again
Jon
