On hand ove rof my newish boat (1995) i have found that the fresh water was not being pumped through. The chap I had looking at it thought after some fiddlding around that one of the diaframs may not be working. So i agreed to a new pump. All worked well for one day then no water, the tanks is full, you can hear the pump woring but no water is soming through to the taps. Any ideas what to do?

If the pump is running then the electrics seem ok. Try and do an isolation test, disconnect the outlet pipe from pump and run to see if water is flowing.

Based on the laws of averages, someone someone somewhere has to have fitted a pump back to front - possibly yours?

The new pump not one of those fitted back to front and not pumping? Air leak on the suction side? Broken pipe under floors on the outlet side (water appearing in bilges?) Tap washers stuck on their seatings due to long non-use? (Happens with loose jumper type taps) The answer is only do a few checks, eg disconnect outlet side of pump and quick on/off - did you get wet 'cos if so pump works? Then whip valve top off one tap, again on with pump - water now? Water systems do not permit major problems that are hard to find as they are relatively simple.

Pump works but no water - ok - can it suck water freely? If it can suck freely where is the water going, can it get to it's destination unimpeded and once there, can it get out?

Good luck!

Check the inlet side, I have had two in the last month where the clear bowl on the strainer was cracked allowing air into the system.
