Just discovered a seam leak on the top of my Vetus Water Muffler (LSG type ) . The weeping seam is in a rather awkward position but at £250 for a new muffler I would like to have a go fixing it .
What is the best stuff to use though ? My thoughts are some sort of plastic repair resin that I can paste along the seam .
Thanks in advance

Hi nimbus I'm gonna have to double check the Hose connection is 90 mm but i'm pretty sure it is . The item is :

VETUS PLASTIC MUFFLER TYPE LSG90 90 MM, WITH ROTATING INLET AND OUTLET
128WLKLSG90

This is it

That is what I used, cleaned out the "split" into a "V" form, filled with 291 and smeared a little up the sides of the split and covered with a bit of heavy aluminium tape.

Plann "B" if your waterbox gets too hot would be to usea bit of exhaust bandage - (the non setting type) stick it over the split then fix a thin stainless (or aluminium) plate over it held down with a few short, fat self tappers.

try a soldering iron with a flat 'knife' blade on it to 're-weld' the seam like you used to repair footballs when you were a kid

Footballs are leather outers with a rubber bladder insde! How can you repair those with a hot knife. You undo the lacing take the bladder out and stick a cycle repair patch on it! Dont think exhast mufflers are like that though!
