Water maker

If I may ask, what membrane and pressure vessel? The price is REALLY CHEAP!!!

15min bursts is going to p1ss you off v.soon!
dont' forget that unless you have a soft start system (which you wont with the karcher) and unless you want to change membranes v.often, you have to start the thing with the needle valve undone (no pressure) leave it a minute or so to stabilise, and then slowly (over a period of say 15-20secs up the pressure to 800psi, THEN it produces water.
Shutting down is reverse process, slowly lower pressure, leave it for a min then turn off pump.

Now do that on 15min intervals and you wont be happy I tell you.

I went to the trouble of replacing the v.nice and expensive 1phase 220V motor to a 3phase one mated to a VFD and configured it to soft start the thing so that I don't have to go to the lazarette to start the thing and stop it later on.

I don't remember the details of the system we had when I was in the UK (maybe able to find the manual we gave to new crew if I tried...), but the sand filter was at least 2-3' in diameter. It also wasn't a case of just turning on, flushing, back flushing and disposing of initial product before sending to the tank.

I think we could make 100 gallons in 24 hrs.

This is only going to be for ad hoc use maybe 2-3 weeks each year. Hence "thro away" theory. But as a correspondent said on another site, outboards are composed of same stuff as p/washers and they last provided they are looked after. The beauty is that system can be later converted to more robust 12/240 pumps. This is all trial and error. So will post brands etc when it is working, but suffice to say I found them all on Alibaba, the rest of the non pressure components eg 20/5 micron filters/housings etc. on eBay. I will prob have to visit a hydraulic hose dealer for a couple of the connections
