Water level sender

Having recently had good results finding a Wema fuel gauge, my attention turns to the water level indicator. It’s a stack of eight LEDs, not all of which are working. The gizmo sticking out of the top of the portside tank has eight wires. Is it fair to assume that that’s the sender, and nothing else? Full replacement of that and the readout gauge?

I have something that may be similar - a Kemo Electronic Water Level Meter. The eleven (in my case) wires will be fixed at different heights inside the tank with the neutral as the lowest. As the tank fills and empties, circuits are created and broken by the water. If some of the LEDs are not lighting, it could be that they are kaput or that some of the wires have been broken or disconnected or corroded. You should be able to test that fairly easily.
