Water Inlet for yanmar

Does anyone know what size the cooling water inlet seacock must be for a YSE8? I am looking at Blakes and wonder would the 3/4" be adequate or should I go for 1.5"? Any other ideas??

3/4" will be fine. Not sure I'd bother with a Blakes, a through-hull with a ball valve would be adequate and a lot cheaper.

My YSE8 in a Tomahawk had a 1/2" inlet, the old Stuart-Turner combined filter and seacock fitting, obsolete now.
The raw-water cooled 2GM20 I owned in a later boat used the same sized fitting.

Thanks very much! 1.5" did look a bit big. Will give some thought to your suggestion, the Blakes is the more compact option but cost is always a consideration though!

Through hull and ball valve is more compact than a Blakes, half the price and allows you to take your inlet pipe vertically to a strainer. The diameter you use depends on the diameter of the inlet to the water pump, which will probably be 1/2". If you use a 3/4" you will have to step it down anyway with a smaller tail. of course if the inlet is larger, use the larger valve.

Had a ysb8 with 1/2 inch I now have a 2gm20 with a 1/2 inch. 1.5 inch is way to big. That's a heads outlet!
As others say no need for expensive blakes, use a skin fitting,ball valve and hose tail.

+1 for 1/2" and 1/4 turn ball valve
