Hi, I have a princes 32 with MD32 engines. It's a 1974 and noticed the oil in one engine going grey. The engine doesn't overheat and runs OK.
I'm reluctant to remove the cylinder head till I'm sure the gasket has gone. I have changed the oil and filter but still grey.
Any advice much appreciated as I'm a pensioner reluctant to get my tools out lol
Thanks

you can get cheap test kits that determine whether a head gasket has failed by detecting the by products of combustion in the engines coolant.

for example

Head Gasket - Block - Combustion Leak Tester KIT FX-53 Box 500ml Diesel Test Fluid : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive

Wet liners but the engine doesn't over heat and its fine with the water filler cap removed. the raw water pump is isolated from the engine as its shaft driven. Could be the oil cooler I suppose.

Could be wet liner seals allowing coolant past the bottom of the liner.
Oil cooler as well.
Possibilities are endless!
Coolant system pressure tester from ebay etc and see if she holds pressure hot and cold.

Does the water level drop? Oil pressure is likely a fair bit higher than raw water pressure, if the oil cooler was leaking would you not be losing oil into the water rather than water into the oil?
