Hi all,
I have a 2018 Merry Fisher 695 with a Yamaha 150 and love it. However, I regularly get water in the fuel locker which needs to be bailed out, abou t2 buckets every 12 weeks. The bilge pump is in the hatch and is bone dry and the fuel locker is behind this. Any ideas?
Thanks

On page 36 of the owners manual it shows there are two drains leading from the petrol tank compatment out the back of the boat, one each side of the outboard. These drains should run free so there should never be water in the fuel locker.

The only drains I can se are in the well either side of the circular hatch. Both are clear.
The hatch may need to be revealed but hard to imagine that much water getting in there?

Hello there. I also have a Merry Fisher 695 with Yamaha 150 here in Devon.
I bought it with 35 hours on it.
It leaked like a sieve - 3 buckets in 3 hours but not when moored , only under way ,fishing, drifting or at anchor.
I discovered that the round hatch in the engine well was not fitted properly - plenty of mastic and refitted.
Unfortunately still had another leak - turned out to be the hole (drilled by the Jeanneau dealer in Plymouth who fitted the engine etc) for the transducer cable to the Lowrance system - it had almost no filler in it and is only two inches above the water line !
These leaks have left me with a very mouldy boat and rusted hydraulic hose connectors as they have been lying in the wet bilge .
Just to add insult to injury, the wiring behind the control column (accessed in the heads) looks like it was fitted by a blind man and the displays drop out from time to time due to poor connections. Fortunately I am very handy with electronics and have “tidied it up”.
This quality of work is not what I expected from a Jeanneau which was almost new.
Does anyone else have issues with poor workmanship on these boats. ?
After all these faults are potentially very dangerous - boats are meant to float, electronic equipment should work and steering via hydraulic hose is handy !

Thanks for the insights, I contacted Merry Fisher and they said the weight of the engine disturbs the seal on the round hatch and to reseal it. Sounds a bit strange as every boat would have this problem. I got some sikaflex to do it. Lest see if it works?

Yes I used Sikaflex to seal that hatch. I tested it by plugging both drainage holes with champagne corks ( almost the right size) and filling the engine recess compartment with water, leaving it for a day to see if the level went down.
I did also check the outboard engine fixing bolts and the bolts holding the swim platforms on.

Hello,
Did you resolve ths issue of water in the fuel locker? I have the same boat (2016 MF695)and the same problem. Im thinking water may be coming in via the two fuel locker drainage flap located under the swim platforms.
Thanks Bernard
