Whilst cleaning out the water tank we have been filling large 5 litre bottles from the hose in the marina for general water use. Despite running the water for several minutes when you examine the bottles it is obvious that there are still bits of green stuff and other nasties floating around in the water. WE have a seagull iv water filter on board for drinking and water for tea etc. but I would like to keep as much of the dirt from the hose out as possible.

Can you recommend a particle filter to fit to the hose pipe for use when filling the tank? If possible one that doesn't require a new filter after every refill.

I've just ordered one of the Whale Aquaclear inline jobbies for inside (to catch the cr*p that's already in the tank). If I'm happy with it, I'm going to buy another and add it to a length of hose to fit onto the marina supply. They're good for 4500 litres, so should last most people a while.

+1

You could also consider the West Marine in-line KDF water filter. Costs $30 (approx £19). It's good for 1000 US gallons.
