hi gents, struggling with this one. I have a crownline 215 and was recently up at windemere for a few days. I dropped anchor a few times and up it came with a load of mud and sludge with the anchor, and in the anchor hold as a result. When i got back i put the hose in the anchor hold and turned it on, this had all the mud pouring out of the outlet on the side of the hull, all great there then! I then went into the cuddy which means going down a step built into the floor. This step forms a small loacker so i lifted the hatch up. Inside it is carpeted with the same material as the floor but there seemed to be a bilge pump in there. It is only 30cm deep by about 50 cm wide but it had about 6 cm of water inside it! I am absolutley at a loss as to how this has got in there as it is about 10 ffot from the anchor hold at the front of the boat and i am not aware that this is the culprit! Any help would be great as im baffled.

Thanks

PBARX

if the water in the anchor locker was dirty, what about the water in the step locker ? Clean or mucky?

Are there any obvious limber holes running into the step locker ?

I think the water was fairly clear but ended up trying to get it out with a grubby sponge so im not entirly sure. I have never lifted this locker before so i was just presuming the anchor hold might be the culprit?

I think if it was me, now you've dried it out I would put the hose back in to the anchor locker and try again. Give it 30 seconds of flushing and see again.......

stick your hand up at the back of the anchor locker, and see if the there is a lip - not all anchor lockers in cuddys are sealed right the way up and totally waterproof other than drain holes.

yes but why is a bilge pump installed there ? Is it an original (designed) installation which is why I suggested looking for limber holes), or a retro-fit, which would indicate some need to deal with adventitious flooding - e.g. from the anchor locker.

If you've not looked in there before, the 2 incidents may not be related. Are you sure the pump is for bilge water? It could be your fresh water pump, a leak on the pipework could be the problem. Check what the pump actually does and check for leaks.
