Windows RDP doesnt work with iPlayer

I just got back from a trip to USA and when away used windows remote desktop on my laptop to access my home PC. WRDP works great but I tried running iPlayer and although it ran (because it was actually running on the home PC), it ran like a 2 legged dog. Dont think the graphics can cope.
Didnt I read that BBC are soon to release a new subscription iPlayer that does work overseas?

Just a thought. If there is a problem with bandwidth wherever you are connecting how about downloading the programme you want to watch instead of streaming it?
