I have just been in the marina office and they mentioned that they are holding a party for all boat owners - both berth holders and visitors, on the evening of Saturday 15th August - 7pm until midnight. Apparently last year was a success but this year they want to do a shorter but more 'full on' event!

As such they are having a hog roast, live entertainment (2 - 3 acts) bar and other things like a bouncy castle jousting game thing and other amusements (for the kids but I am sure plenty of adults might feel the desire to participate, especially after a few drinks!)

Anyway I think it is going to be free to berth holders and visiting boats, and they are going to try and do a berthing deal for boats staying for 3 days or more. They said the only charge will be the bar and this will only be a nominal cost.

So it sounds like a fun evening - I'm going to go if I can, but they did they say they need as many advance bookings as poss so as to make sure they have enough food to round. (and this is important I think!!)

just re-read my post and thought...visitor berthing is not included in the 'free night' thing but they will try and do a deal if 3 nights or more. (don't want the blame if I got it wrong!!)

would be going, but will be in france then so have fun /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

don't forget.......who's going?

Said I'd do an unofficial plug for this 'coming up soon' event.

They have a hog roast booked along with 3 different live music acts. Free to anyone with a boat in the marina that evening (saturday 15th August). There will also be a bar, bouncy castle-jousting-gladiator game thing (sounds dangerous!!), skittles, quiz and various other bits and bobs to keep us all entertained.

They said they would prefer advanced booking so as to get a rough idea of numbers, but if last year was anything to go by, I thought it was a good crack and there were a lot of boats (100 + on top of the annual berth holders).

And I nearly forgot - they'll lay on a bbq breakfast on the sunday morning as well. (that's me sold on it then!)

Their phone number is 01984 631264 or an email is good - try james@watchet-harbour-marina.com.

Gate times that weekend:

Saturday opening 1125
closing 1558

Sunday opening 0014
closing 0446
opening 1252
closing 1725

Could it be better? Lets pray for sunshine (unlike today!)

See you there!

Shame, we are planning to be in Watchet the week before as we head west, but you never know if the weather goes against us at there is reason to stay!

I am not sure

Supposed to be doing a trip to Lundy the weekend before or the weekend after. Might be pushing my luck a bit, with the family, trying to fit this in as well.

Sneds,

I have my brother down with his family for a days boating on the Sat so I dont think we will be able to make it :( . If it changes I will try and make it, shame I bet it will be good fun.

sat in watchet now - just stopped raining and two middle aged couples are playing silly bu**ers in their dinghies. the singer is truly dreadful and the forecast for tomorrow is rain. why did I bother?

and that truly irritating mock town crier has been doing his rounds. one of these days someone will do his round!

even the 3G is working about !G
