Watches - the sort you wear on your wrist..

I always wear a watch- a cheapo Timex, with a button to press to see the time in the night. What for? Shop/marina office/restaurant opening/closing times, buses, meeting people for drinks, timing lights, tides...
My partner never wears one, says he doesn't need or want one- for many of the reasons others have stated in previous posts. However, his constant asking 'what's the time' and my reply 'time you got a f*****g watch' gets very boring.

No watch or rings.
Weddingring got cut up due to allergic reaction to medication, my fingers swelled up like sausages.
Time in UTC on navtex for tidal work,in Dutch time on bulkhead for SWMBO.

SWMBO bought me a Seiko Kinetic titanium watch and it is the dog's b******s. It's been going for eight years now. Because it's titanium is doesn't aggravate my skin and because it is kinetic I don't have to worry about batteries. The glass is toughened crystal and it's taken a battering, but it still looks smart. The luminous hour marks stay lit for a whole night-watch.

I take off all jewellery for boat maintenance work, however, especially if it's anything to do with electrics.

Regarding luminous dials which model gives the best and long luminousity?

The Ball Watch Company uses blue and yellow Tritium Tubes that will glow for up to 25 years and require no charging, 39 of them. The bezel pip is lumed and the numbers are super luminova.

It will set you back around €3000 though, but it's still a good alternative to the ubiquitous Rolex that everyone here seems to obsessively lust after.

I bought my Casio illuminator 10 years ago for £3 I change the battery every year (pence from Amazon) and it is waterproof enough when I go diving down to about 60 ft iI wear it all the time.

I remember, several years ago, thumbing through one of the Sunday supplements and noticing an advert for a high-end watch - probably Rolex or Bulgari. Only £300? I thought... Looks nice - might treat myself to one of those - then I say that it was the deposit...

As I said way back in this thread, I haven't had a watch since leaving full time work. But as I sit here there is clock on my laptop, also one on the OH's laptop, a ship's clock, one on the chartplotter, 3 mobile phones with clocks on, an alarm clock by the bed. Who needs a bloody watch. edit forgot 2 more on Kindles
